Co-producers Larry Poncho Brown of Mandela Media, LLC and Rasheem Kilo Pugh of the Saving the Arts Foundation are in production of a documentary featuring America's top black artists as they tell you the back story of their success... Hear their stories, see our history.
This documentary will explore the backstory to a mostly undocumented movement which occurred in American history. It will attempt to pull together key players that forged this movement between the years of 1985 and 2005. It will also shed light on how the black art market was truly birthed during this period.
Each of the featured trailblazers will discuss their origin and the impact of African-American art or black art and the financial contributions to the art business. They will also give insight to the effect of positive imaging and the excitement that was generated during this time. They will attempt to historically validate this art revolution framed around the impact of "The Good Times" era and “The Cosby Show” era.
This series will delve into the different avenues black art was exposed to the masses. The discussion will be forged from people from different aspects of the business from gallery owners, art venues, art publishers, art distributors, art representatives, and popular artists etc. The series attempts to lay the foundation of this revolution as well as stress the importance of art in our culture and the perpetuation of art in our future.
